Donald Barrell and Jaguar make a Great Team

Jaguar Academy of Sport Member and rugby star Donald Barrell paid a visit to Watford Jaguar to collect an XK that he will use in his role to promote the Academy of Sport.

In fact, it was a case of ‘keeping it in the family’, as the car was actually handed over to him by his uncle, and our Aftersales Director, Anthony Barrell.

The aim of the Jaguar Academy of Sport is to support the next generation of British sporting talent with bursaries that will help them to fulfill their full potential.

Donald said: “I am really proud to be part of the Jaguar Academy of Sport and to be lucky enough to drive a Jaguar XK is an absolute dream! I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge and advice to young athletes coming through, which is really important to me.”

Watford-born Donald burst into the Saracens team aged 18 in the 2003-04 season when injuries in the squad forced him to interrupt his A-Level studies to make his debut as a replacement against the Northampton Saints.

He continued to be part of the Saracens Academy while completing a degree in Anthropology at University College London. After finishing his studies, he concentrated on his rugby and has been a regular in the first team for the past three seasons.

Mike Dodds, our Dealer Principal said: “It’s great to have Donald as a Member and helping to promote the Jaguar Academy of Sport in the area.”

At the heart of the Jaguar Academy of Sport is a Bursary Fund to support the development of young British sporting talent.  To learn more visit www.jaguaracademyofsport.co.uk

The website also showcases British sport and its greatest performers past & present. It celebrates many successes and anticipates events and tournaments where British competitors are expected to make the nation proud.

The new generation of Jaguar XK sports coupe, which Donald will be driving, boasts an all-new engine resulting in more power and performance with greater efficiency.

Not only this, it comes with revised exterior styling and interior enhancements but remains true to the heritage of Jaguar’s legendary performance, delivering a superb balance of dynamic ability and refinement.
